A simple interactive activity for developing emotion word understanding through examining facial expressions.

A learning provocation was set up in this Primary 4 classroom to explore emotion word learning through the green behaviours cog. Small labels with emotion words were scattered beside mirrors. Children were encouraged to self select words and to demonstrate these in the mirrors using facial expressions. A member of staff labelled the behaviours (facial expressions) as they did so.

Adapt this for younger or less verbal learners by using simple emotion words or adding a symbol or emoji to the label.
