A non-spooky Halloween idea for the Orange Cog in the Early Years.
Using symbols to support, Nursery children drew facial expressions for different emotions on cut out pumpkin shapes.
Children selected a symbol and guessed the emotion word. The practitioner confirmed or gently corrected the emotion word and then used the symbol card to point to the position of the eyes, eyebrows, mouth, and hands and related these to the emotion. The children studied the facial expressions on the symbols and then used these to create their own Emotion Pumpkins.
