2. Introducing Emotion Works: Wall of Resources

A quick video introduction to the hard copy resources that feature in our starter pack, displayed with some print-outs from the website and arranged into our 6 levels of learning.

Duration

1 min 50 secs

To use this recording as a training video

You will need…

  • Your hard copy Starter Pack
  • Document 3 from the Training Booklet: Emotion Works Levels of Engagement
  • Another window opened in your browser where you have logged in to the Emotion Works website and have clicked through into the ‘Digital Resources’ section of the members area

What to do

First, watch the video through so you see an overview of all the resources shown.

Then watch again, pausing the recording across the 6 different levels of learning.

Spend some time matching up and identifying each of the resources shown in your hard copy Starter Pack.

Think about how each of the learning goals described by each of the levels could be achieved with the resources allocated to each level.

Finally spend some some time searching for some of the worksheets, cog cut outs, and symbol supports shown in the video by using the filters and key word search space in the digital resources section of the members area

> The ‘1 cog at a time booklet’

> Large Black & White Cogs

> Single Cog Sheets

> 4-part storyboard worksheet etc.

> Symbol Bank for introducing the 5-cog system

(Nb. Emotion Works own versions of each of the resources shown are linked in the ‘Useful Resources’ listing on this page. If you are looking for the Picture Communication Symbols (PCS – Boardmaker) versions – these are all listed with the same titles but you will need to search for the resources with the initials ‘PCS’ added.)

After watching and carrying out the above activities you should have a good idea of the different resources that can be useful for work with learners at different emotion works levels. You should also be familiar with searching for worksheets, cog cut outs and symbol supports in the Digital Resources area of the website
