A question (‘what makes me happy’) and a sentence starter (‘you know I’m happy when…’) tap into learning about triggers and behaviours for feeling happy. For this group, in a communication support provision, ready-made symbol sheets helped generate ideas to support pupils make personalised responses. Some used the ideas provided, some volunteered their own.
The context for these learning conversations was provided by the ‘Little Zeb Book: Happy’, and the ‘Mr Happy’ story book and video animation.
