Hawaiian Vacation is a ‘Toy Story Toon’ featuring lots of content that can be used for researching and recording information about each of the emotion cogs.
In this example, the P7 teacher had already introduced the 7 emotion cogs to her class using other learning activities. She set this comprehension task for pupils to consolidate and check learning of the 7 concepts. Pupil’s selected a character from the short, and carried out an ‘Emotion Works Analysis’ to identify the emotions their character experiences in the story and associated triggers, sensations, behavioural responses, regulation strategies, intensity and influencing factors. As you can see this pupil has a good grasp of the different concepts, and can use this understanding to unpack Bonny’s experiences in the story.
A similar activity could be carried out for the simpler models using a slightly different worksheet, or our 5-part or 6-part noteboard or storyboard worksheets.
