An interactive quiz to develop understanding of the Emotion Word (orange) cog for all pupils!
This quiz was organised as a whole school activity and launched at an Emotion Works Parent Showcase. Pupils, parents and staff had a huge amount of fun wandering round the school and grounds, locating and guessing staff emotions.
Staff were photographed showing a range of different emotions through their facial expressions. These pictures were cut out and mounted on orange card cogs, and displayed throughout the school and the grounds.
Pupils were given a sheet with staff names and were tasked with locating each of the photographs, and recording the emotion of each staff member. Most pupils completed the quiz sheets with parents and family members who were visiting for an Emotion Works Showcase event but some completed them with peers or older pupils.
This was a really fun and effective activity in promoting emotion word cog understanding and in promoting Emotion Works throughout the school and parent community. It could be replicated as a class activity, using pupil photos/expressions instead.
Our thanks to Borestone Primary in Stirling for sharing this wonderful idea and for inviting us to see it in action at their Parent Showcase. Special thanks to Mrs Tullis and Mrs Sewell for being such great sports and allowing us to share and use their images in our members community.
