This art idea links the yellow triggers cog with the book “There’s a Volcano in my Tummy”.
Having explored the body sensations of a “volcano in their tummies“, this class looked at triggers for that sensation. After a class discussion, pupils created volcano artwork to show their triggers. Triggers were depicted as the sparks and lava pouring from the volcano, using yellow tones in their colouring to match the yellow cog.
Some of the triggers could be considered body sensations or emotion words/emotion states (e.g. hungry, tiredness). The difference between these and why these are triggers in this example is a good discussion to have with pupils. It allows them to explore and verbalise their understanding of the individual cogs and the close links and overlap between these.
